SUCCESSION PLANNING IN SMALL AND MEDIUM SCALE INDUSTRIES IN KOTTAYAM DISTRICT By Shemymon K.N. and Dr. Antony Joseph

Abstract

The study intended to find out the sucession planning process and to know the demoraphic profile of the employees who are working in the higher grade postions in the small and medium scale industries  in Kottayam district of Kerala state. The research design is descriptive in nature, the method of random sampling is employed for the selection of the sample. The study population consists of 50 managers working in small and medium scale industries. The tool used for the study is succession planning questionnaire and socio demographic data sheet. The collected data were analysed and presented in the form of percentages. The results showed that vast majority of the organizations have no succession planning strategy in the small and medium scale industries in Kottayam district. The study also reveals that most of the managers were degree holders.
